Abstract
Corrosionisaneverydaychallengeinallsectorsoftheeconomyparticularly themanufacturingindustryandthishasledtomassiveeconomicloss.LiteratureissparseonoptimalInhibitionefficiency fromHydrochloricacid(HCl)andTetra-oxo-sulphate(vi)Acid(H2SO4).TheaimandobjectiveofthisresearchistoobserveoptimalInhibitionEfficiency fromacidicmediausingcashewextractsaseco-friendlycorrosioninhibitor.0.1MofHClandH2SO4of0.1Mwereusedfor thecashewextractinthisresearch.Mildcarbonsteelwiththickness0.1cmwasused.Itwascutintovariouscouponsofdimensions4 x5 x0.1cm.Thecashewwasteextractproducedwas usedasacorrosioninhibitoronmildcarbonsteelin0.1MofHClandH2SO4.Itwasobserved thatastheconcentrationofinhibitorincreases,theinhibitorefficiencyalsoincreases.Theoptimalinhibitionefficiency observedinHClwas80.5%while83.7%wasinH2SO4.After336hours oftest,it wasconcluded that H2SO4is a betteracidicmedium.
