Nigeria is a country that is abundantly blessed with many natural resources that have been developed, and some have been discovered for use, and some are under utilized. This account for one of the reason why some parts of the country are still living in object poverty, and some other parts of the country still not developed because the resources there have not been tapped for development and uses. The same applies to water supply in the northern parts of the country which is usually a major problem during the dry season of the year. Most towns and villages in the northern parts of the country suffer water supply for domestic general use, such as water required for drinking, cooking, washing , bathing and washing clothes, flushing water closets, and other needs such as institutional and industrial demand. This paper Examines water harvesting strategies as an alternative measure. Against shortage of water supply for rural areas of northern Nigeria.
