Abstract

Climate change is an additional factor affecting animal production that is naturally dynamic and facing many physical and biomedical challenges. Its impacts on several sectors have been given more emphasis with little attention on effects of climate change on animal health and infectious processes. Hence, this review is a periscope to the relationship between climate change and animal health, adaptation and mitigation approaches for sustainable global ecosystem. It shows that while the global livestock sector contributes a significant share to anthropogenic Green House Gas (GHG) emissions, it can also partake significantly in the mitigation efforts. Consequently, concerted and collective actions from animal care stakeholders are urgently required to ensure that existing and promising adaptation and mitigation approaches are encouraged.
