The purpose of this paper is to discuss green academic library, engaging disruptive innovations for environmental sustainability. It started with the introduction, it went further to discussed green library, it also discussed the concept of disruptive innovation as it relate to library, furthermore, strategic approaches towards implementing green academic libraries was also discussed. The role of librarians in promoting green libraries, hence the paper concluded and recommended that. The need for environmental sustainability is inevitable, that the concept of disruptive innovation for environmental sustainability is germane as new approaches need to be engaged in managing the environment. Also green library could be a major contribution of librarians to the drive to mitigate the effect of global warming and make the world habitable.
