Abstract
Over the years, electioneering periods in Nigeria are often characterized by tension, electoral violence, vote buying and the gross abuse of state power against perceived political opponents. The most populous African country has experienced civil war, several military dictatorships and civil unrest since 1960. The July 14, 2018 election in Ekiti was the fifth election in the history of the state since Nigeria returned to democracy. This paper focuses on the political events that took place during the gubernatorial election in Ekiti state. Keywords: Ekiti, Gubernatorial Election, APC, PDP
